How to Get Around in Merida

Uber – By far my favorite method of transportation. The cars are clean and air-conditioned. The drivers are respectful and accommodating. It’s also very inexpensive!

Taxi – Also inexpensive, but the cars are often not air-conditioned and the cars not often very nice.  Rose and I use this means if an Uber is not available or we are arriving at the airport, we use a taxi not an Uber. A taxi from the airport to Vida Magica will cost you $200MX or about $10US.

Bus – I’ve never used this method, but it’s an option.

Walk – I do this often, too. Depending on the time of year and time of day it’s great. If you’re visiting in April, May, or June, consider Uber!

Car Rental – There are many places that rent cars. While car rental is very cheap, make sure you get full coverage including zero deductible. That can be expensive, but well worth the monies. I speak from personal experience. It doesn’t matter what insurance you have at home, this is MANDATORY to avoid major problems including the possibility of spending time in a Mexican prison. I’m very serious!

Personal Driver – If you want it, we can arrange it, but it’s not cheap!
